I will say that I heard about this project back in August when I was able to talk to action icon Scott Adkins for his new movie Prisoner of War which is now available on Digital with a physical media release set for November. Adkins is delivering another first-rate bare-knuckle actioner with the WWII martial arts epic from director Louis Mandylor but we are already looking to the future and his future projects including a period bruiser having the action phenom fight off a horde of mental patients.

During our extended conversation, Adkins teased about his period action film titled Bedlam and it will see the action phenom go old school literally for a tale of a man who infiltrates a notorious mental hospital on a desperate rescue mission. The catch is that he will have to use all of his signature skills and take on a horde of deadly mental patients and the bodies will hit the floor.

Adkins served up a special behind the scenes of Bedlam which stems from a Romanian news show so most of it is in a foreign language although you can hear what Adkins has to say in English about the film along with some on set video of Adkins sporting a rather sultry and wavy black wig. Bedlam hails from director Jon Shaikh (Our World War) and you can see the distinctive 18th century look for Adkins including some fine threads and a Lucious long hair cut. Scroll below for the advanced peek!

The synopsis for Bedlam reads: Set in 1750’s London the film follows the gripping journey of a bare-knuckle boxer, a man of grit and determination, who faces formidable enemies and overwhelming odds. His mission is deeply personal: to break his sister out of the infamous mental asylum Bedlam. Wrongfully imprisoned by the Duke of Cumberland, her plight serves as the catalyst for his relentless quest for justice.

Bare-knuckle brawler. Man of determination and grit. Formidable enemies and overwhelming odds. Adkins kicking ass looking like he just freed the colonies from tyrannical rule. You bet and sign me up. Coming off the heels of his latest pic Prisoner of War, Scott is looking to once again do something different and innovative yet again while keeping his signature skills intact for all of his fans. The plot of infiltrating a real life and infamous historical hospital in 1750’s London is rather intriguing. That and having to take on a horde of mental patients too also gives this one the required flavor for Adkins and action fans.
